The violence erupted during the second half of the match, forcing officials to halt the game. SC Paderborn was leading 1-0 at the time of the interruption.

Marien condemned the actions of the fans, stating that such behavior was unacceptable and would not be tolerated by the club. He also called on fans to respect the players and officials and to conduct themselves in a responsible manner.

This incident comes as Rostock is already facing disciplinary action from the German Football Association (DFB) for previous fan misconduct. The club could face further sanctions as a result of this latest incident.
