Panthers Take Game 1 of Stanley Cup Final
Rodrigues' Heroics Lead Florida to Victory
Bobrovsky Shines in Net
The Florida Panthers have struck first in the Stanley Cup Final, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 4-1 in Game 1 on Saturday night. Sergei Bobrovsky was spectacular in goal for the Panthers, making 29 saves and earning the win.
Evan Rodrigues scored twice in the third period for the Panthers, while Jonathan Huberdeau and Sam Bennett each added a goal. Connor McDavid scored the lone goal for the Oilers.
The Panthers played their game all night and the Oilers have to be wondering how they are going to figure this out. Florida's defense was stifling, and Bobrovsky was unbeatable. The Oilers had a few chances to tie the game in the third period, but Bobrovsky stood tall.
Rodrigues was the hero for the Panthers, scoring the go-ahead goal and adding an empty-netter to seal the victory. He has been a key contributor for the Panthers all season long, and he came up big in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.
The Panthers will look to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host the Oilers in Game 2 on Monday night. The Oilers will need to find a way to solve Bobrovsky and generate more offense if they want to get back in the series.
