LGBTQ Inclusion in the Workplace
How Allyship Can Make LGBT Staff Feel Less Excluded
In honor of Pride Month, NCQA’s LGBTQ Employee Resource Group hosted a training for employees.
However, despite the legal protections established by the EEOC and state and federal courts, state legislatures continue to introduce and pass laws that discriminate against LGBTQ people. These laws create a hostile work environment for LGBTQ employees and make it difficult for them to feel included and valued.
Allyship is an important way to combat discrimination and create a more inclusive workplace for LGBTQ employees. Allies are people who support and advocate for LGBTQ people, even if they do not identify as LGBTQ themselves. Allies can take many different actions to support LGBTQ employees, such as:
- Speaking up against discrimination
- Educating themselves about LGBTQ issues
- Creating a welcoming and inclusive work environment
- Mentoring or sponsoring LGBTQ employees
Allyship is a powerful tool that can make a real difference in the lives of LGBTQ employees. By creating a more inclusive workplace, allies can help LGBTQ employees feel more valued, respected, and safe.

Allyship is a powerful tool that can make a real difference in the lives of LGBTQ people.
