Higuera, Willing to Buy a Franchise for Morelia to Have a Team in the First Division

The businessman and former mayor of Morelia, Raul Moron Orozco, assured that he is willing to buy a Liga de Expansion franchise so that Morelia has a team in the First Division

Raul Moron Orozco, a businessman and former mayor of Morelia, announced that he is willing to buy a Liga de Expansion franchise to bring a First Division team back to the city.

Through a social media post, Moron expressed his intention to acquire a franchise and make the necessary investments to return professional soccer to Morelia.

Since the departure of Monarcas Morelia to Mazatlan at the end of 2020, the Michoacan capital has been left without a team in the top flight of Mexican soccer.

Liga de Expansion is the second division of Mexican soccer, and several of its teams have recently been promoted to Liga MX, such as Atletico San Luis and FC Juarez.

The acquisition of a Liga de Expansion franchise would be a significant step towards bringing a First Division team back to Morelia.

Morelia is a city with a rich soccer tradition and a large fan base, and the return of professional soccer would be a major boost for the city.

It remains to be seen whether Moron's offer will be accepted by the Liga de Expansion, but his willingness to invest in a Morelia team is a positive sign for the city's soccer fans.
