Ten Hag Keeps Højlund and Mount Under Wraps in Aim to Avoid Injury Crisis

Manchester United's Erik ten Hag prioritizes player fitness by limiting minutes of promising youngsters Højlund and Mount.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has taken a cautious approach to the fitness of two of his most promising young players, Rasmus Højlund, and Mason Mount, in an attempt to avoid a potential injury crisis.

Højlund, a 20-year-old striker signed from Atalanta in the summer, has impressed in his limited appearances for United, scoring three goals in just four starts.

Mount, a 24-year-old attacking midfielder who has been a regular for England in recent years, has also been in fine form for United, scoring two goals and providing three assists in his first six Premier League appearances.

Ten Hag has been careful not to overload either player, with both having been withdrawn from matches early in recent weeks.

Speaking after United's 2-0 win over Tottenham on Wednesday, Ten Hag explained his thinking.

"Both Højlund and Mount are very important players for us, but we have to be careful with them," he said. "They are still young and developing, and we don't want to risk them getting injured.

"I think it's important to manage their minutes carefully, so that they can stay fit and healthy for the rest of the season.

Ten Hag's decision to manage the minutes of Højlund and Mount is a wise one. Both players have the potential to be key figures for United in the years to come, and it is important that they are not rushed back into action too quickly.

By taking a cautious approach, Ten Hag is giving Højlund and Mount the best chance of fulfilling their potential at Old Trafford.
